Financial Aid for Seniors: Where to Find Help for Modifying Your Home
Yesterday, we discussed chair lifts for stairs. While they’re invaluable for independence, they do come with a price tag: about $3,000 to $15,000 each, reports Kevin Campbell at Caring for Aging Parents.
But there are places that can help people pay for them. Senior Technology News! recommends checking out The Association of Assistive Technology Act Programs. Some of these programs “may help home owners to find funding for modifications to their property that will improve their quality of life,” the post says. You can find your state’s here.
Senior Technology News! also links to a 2008 Wall Street Journal article that recommends, among other things, asking your local Center for Independent Living or Area Agency on Aging for referrals to organizations that provide financial aid.
