“Consumer Reports” Walks Through Choosing a New Medicare Plan
Every year during this Medicare open enrollment time, a lot of advice comes out about how to pick a new plan. (We’ve covered some here, here and here, for example.) It’s helpful but can also feel a bit overwhelming.
Over at ConsumerReports.org, they put things into perspective by walking through the process of choosing a Medicare Advantage plan for one of their readers. “OK, so here’s what you do,” they begin.
Go to Medicare.gov, Medicare’s consumer website, and click on “Find health & drug plans” in the big yellow box near the top. Following the prompts, enter your zip code and other information (including the drugs you regularly take, if any).
The rest of the article goes step-by-step through the findings and concludes with the pros and cons of switching plans. The author doesn’t research all the details experts often advise looking into, but the article at least provides a good overview of how to start your search.
